Summer sleeping bags

Summer sleeping bags are ideal for camping, hiking, cycling, festivals and travelling during the warmer months. Compared with three-season and winter models, they contain less insulation and are therefore generally lighter and more compact. When choosing a sleeping bag, focus primarily on the Comfort temperature, which is the best indication of the nighttime temperatures for which the sleeping bag is suitable.

Our range includes both synthetic and down summer sleeping bags in different sizes and designs.

How to choose a summer sleeping bag

For a summer sleeping bag, the key is finding the right balance between thermal comfort, low weight and compact packed size. Lightweight sleeping bags are especially useful for hiking, cycling or bikepacking, where every gram and centimetre of pack space matters. For car camping, on the other hand, comfort and extra room may be more important.

When choosing a sleeping bag, we recommend paying particular attention to the Comfort temperature. This indicates the temperature range in which the sleeping bag should provide a comfortable night's sleep without feeling cold. The Limit temperature represents the lower limit for less cold-sensitive users, while the Extreme temperature is an emergency survival rating only and should not be used as the main criterion when choosing a sleeping bag.

Down or synthetic summer sleeping bag?

Down sleeping bags offer an excellent balance of insulation, low weight and packability. They are particularly suitable when you want to keep your gear as light and compact as possible.

Synthetic sleeping bags are generally less sensitive to moisture and are a practical choice for regular camping, festivals or travelling.

Don't forget the sleeping mat

Even in summer, your sleeping bag is not the only factor affecting thermal comfort. A significant amount of heat can be lost to the ground, so choosing a suitable sleeping mat is equally important. When camping in the mountains, also bear in mind that nighttime temperatures can be considerably lower than in the valleys, even during summer.

Connecting two sleeping bags

Some models are available with both right-hand and left-hand zips. Compatible sleeping bags with zips on opposite sides can be connected to create a shared sleeping space for two people. If you want to use this option, check the zip orientation and compatibility of the specific models.

What to consider when choosing

When comparing summer sleeping bags, focus mainly on the Comfort temperature, type of insulation, weight, packed size and sleeping bag dimensions. Depending on how you plan to use it, the zip orientation and the possibility of connecting two sleeping bags may also be important.

A well-chosen summer sleeping bag provides enough comfort and thermal reserve without adding unnecessary weight or bulk to your gear.
