Product detailed description
Pinguin Lava 250
A lightweight down sleeping bag for trekking, bikepacking and lightweight travel, combining low weight, compact packed dimensions and thermal comfort for the warmer part of the year. It belongs among lightweight summer sleeping bags designed for trips where every gram and centimetre of pack space matters. Lava 250 is available in three lengths for users up to 175, 185 and 195 cm tall and in Blue, Green and Red.
700 cuin fill power
Insulation is provided by 90/10 duck down with a fill power of 700 cuin, distributed in trapezoidal chambers. Internal baffles separate the individual sections of down, helping to keep the insulation evenly distributed, reduce down migration and limit areas with lower insulating performance.
The amount of down varies according to size:
- 175 cm: 230 g of down
- 185 cm: 250 g of down
- 195 cm: 270 g of down
The down is certified according to the RDS (Responsible Down Standard), which provides traceability of the down and sets animal welfare requirements throughout the supply chain.
Cuin indicates the fill power of down, meaning the volume the down can achieve when fully lofted. The higher the value, the better the potential insulation-to-weight ratio. However, fill power alone does not determine how warm a sleeping bag is. Thermal performance also depends on the amount of down, chamber construction and the overall design of the sleeping bag.
Lava 250 has the following temperature ratings:
- Comfort: +5 °C
- Limit: 0 °C
- Extreme: -15 °C
Low weight and good packability
Lava 250 is designed for trips where you want to keep the weight and volume of your gear as low as possible. Depending on the selected length, it weighs:
- 175 cm: 640 g
- 185 cm: 690 g
- 195 cm: 735 g
The sleeping bag comes with a compression sack. The Ø 15 × 28 cm dimensions refer to the sleeping bag packed in the sack before fully tightening the compression straps. Once the straps are tightened, the packed length can be reduced to approximately 25 cm, giving fully compressed dimensions of Ø 15 × 25 cm.
Detailed instructions on how to compress the sleeping bag effectively can be found in the Useful information tab.
Lightweight materials for travelling light
The outer shell is made from lightweight Nylon Ultralight Ripstop DWR CCS. The ripstop structure increases resistance to tearing, while the DWR treatment helps reduce surface wetting from external moisture.
Clima Control Shield (CCS) helps balance protection against wind and external moisture with the breathability required for comfortable use.
The lightweight Polyester Ultra-Lite lining contributes to the low overall weight of the sleeping bag.
Three lengths for the right body height
The 175 / 185 / 195 cm designation indicates the recommended maximum user height. Choose the nearest length that is equal to or greater than your body height. For example, if you are 182 cm tall, the 185 cm version is the appropriate choice.
The mummy shape reduces unnecessary internal space and helps make efficient use of the down insulation. More detailed guidance on choosing the correct sleeping bag length can be found in the Useful information tab.
Zips and connecting two sleeping bags
Lava 250 is equipped with high-quality YKK zips and is available with either a right-hand or left-hand zip.
A right-hand and left-hand version can be connected together, allowing two compatible sleeping bags to create a shared sleeping space.
Lava 250 or Lava 350?
Both models have a similar purpose, but each prioritises slightly different characteristics.
Lava 250 is the lighter and more compact option for warmer conditions. It uses down with a higher fill power of 700 cuin, contributing to a very good balance of insulation, weight and packability. It is particularly suitable when saving every gram and centimetre of pack space is a priority.
Lava 350 contains more down insulation and provides a greater thermal reserve. It is therefore the more suitable option for colder nights.
In simple terms: Lava 250 prioritises low weight and packability, while Lava 350 provides a greater thermal reserve.
