TREKSPORT Ice Grip Light crampons are designed for walking on icy terrain, but can also be used for walking or running on packed snow or other slippery surfaces. The crampons are compact and do not take up much space in your backpack. If you are looking for a lightweight version of chain crampons, the Ice Grip Light model will meet your expectations.

The sizes listed are approximate and the shape of the shoes on which the crampons will be used must always be taken into account.

Construction:

The crampons are made of flexible rubber or TPE thermoplastic elastomer, which retains its elastic properties even at very low temperatures down to -40 °C. Segments with 12 mm spikes are attached to the elastomer by chains. Both the spikes and chains are made of high-quality stainless steel, so they do not corrode and you do not have to worry so much about maintenance. A Velcro strap is attached to the elastomer to ensure a secure connection between the crampons and the shoe.

Functionality:

Once attached, the flexible elastomer wraps around the upper part of the shoe and the chain with spikes around the lower part. When the correct size is selected, the crampons are firmly attached to the shoe and the Velcro further increases the stability of the crampons on the shoe. After attaching the crampons to the shoe, the segments with spikes point from the sole towards the ground, ensuring excellent traction on slippery surfaces and preventing slipping and falling.

There are 5 segments with cleverly placed spikes on the bottom. The segments are loosely connected by chains, which allow them to perfectly adapt to the sole of the shoe and copy its curvature when climbing in the terrain. The spikes dig into the ground and prevent slipping. The rear horseshoe has 4 spikes and acts as a brake during descent, preventing slipping and unpleasant falls on the back.

Walking creates a large dynamic load in the area where the chains and elastomer connect. The holes through which the chains are connected are reinforced so that the force is transferred around the entire circumference of the reinforcement ring and there is no overload on the hole in the elastomer.

Chains:

The chains are made of high-quality 201 stainless steel and the links are twisted, which contributes to better functionality and less deformation under load. The chains are less susceptible to damage.

The last links of the chains, which connect to the elastomer, are made of even harder 304 stainless steel.

Spiked segments

The 12 mm long spiked segments are made of high-quality 201 stainless steel and are corrosion resistant.

The spikes dig into the ground when walking or running, preventing slipping.

There are 4 spikes on the rear segment, which provide anti-slip protection when descending.

Transport and storage bag

The crampons are supplied with a fabric transport/storage bag.

Attaching the crampons to your shoes

Select the correct size of crampons; the left and right crampons are identical. Attach the crampons as follows: Insert the toe of your shoe into the front of the product (marked FRONT) and pull the back (marked BACK) of the elastomer over the heel of your shoe. Adjust the elastomer on the shoe so that the crampons fit snugly against the shoe; the spikes must point away from the sole when walking. Fasten the strap across the instep. Make sure the crampons are securely attached to the shoe.

Maintenance

Wash with clean water and neutral soap. Allow to dry naturally away from heat sources. Treat metal parts with an anti-corrosion agent.

Storage

Store the unpacked product in a dry, cool, dark place, away from heat sources and sharp objects.
