TREKSPORT Ice Grip Pro chain crampons are designed for walking on icy terrain, but can also be used on packed snow or other slippery surfaces. The crampons are lightweight, compact, and don't take up much space in your backpack.

They come in 4 sizes:

Sizes:

• S – for shoe sizes EU 35–37 / 530 g per pair
• M – for shoe sizes EU 38–40 / 540 g per pair
• L – for shoe sizes EU 41–43 / 550 g per pair
• XL – for shoe sizes EU 44–47 / 560 g per pair

The sizes listed are approximate and the shape of the shoes on which the crampons will be used must always be taken into account.

Warning: Chain crampons are not designed for use in mountain climbing terrain and are not a substitute for climbing crampons!

Construction:

The crampons are made of flexible rubber, or thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), which retains its elastic properties even at very low temperatures down to -40 °C. Two horseshoes with 15 mm spikes are attached to the elastomer by chains. The horseshoes and chains are made of high-quality stainless steel, which ensures corrosion resistance and low maintenance. A strap with Velcro is attached to the elastomer for a secure connection between the crampons and the footwear.

Functionality:

Once attached, the flexible elastomer wraps around the top of the shoe, while the chains and horseshoes cover the bottom. When the correct size is selected, the anti-slip devices are firmly attached to the shoes, and the Velcro fastening strap increases stability. The spikes of the horseshoes point from the sole towards the ground, ensuring excellent traction on slippery surfaces and preventing slipping and falling.

There are two horseshoes on the bottom – the front one has 9 spikes and consists of two movable parts connected by axles. This allows it to follow the bend of the shoe when climbing, and the spikes dig into the ground better, increasing stability. The rear horseshoe with 4 spikes acts as a brake when descending and prevents slipping backwards.

Walking creates a large dynamic load in the area where the chains and elastomer connect. The holes through which the chains are attached are reinforced, distributing the force around the entire circumference of the reinforcing ring and preventing overloading of the hole.

Chains

The chains are made of high-quality 201 stainless steel. The links are twisted, which contributes to better functionality and less deformation under load. The chains are less susceptible to damage.

The last links of the chains, which connect to the elastomer, are made of even harder 304 stainless steel.

Spiked horseshoes:

The horseshoes are made of high-quality 201 stainless steel, which ensures corrosion resistance.

The front horseshoe is divided into two movable parts that adapt to the bend of the sole when walking and support the smooth movement of the shoe in the terrain. It contains 9 spikes with a length of 15 mm, evenly spaced around the circumference, which dig into the terrain and prevent slipping.

The rear horseshoe has 4 spikes that provide anti-slip function when descending.

Transport and storage packaging:

The anti-slip devices are supplied with plastic transport/storage packaging.

Fitting the anti-slip devices to shoes:

Select the correct size of anti-slip devices (the right and left parts are the same).
Insert the toe of the shoe into the front part (marked "FRONT").
Stretch the rear part (marked "BACK") of the elastomer over the heel of the shoe.
Adjust the elastomer so that the crampons fit snugly against the shoe.
Fasten the fastening strap across the instep.
Make sure that the crampons are securely fastened and that the spikes are pointing towards the ground.

Maintenance

Wash with clean water and a neutral soap.
Dry naturally, away from heat sources.
Treat metal parts with an anti-corrosion agent.

Storage

Store unpacked crampons in a dry, cool, dark place, away from heat sources and sharp objects.
