Three-season sleeping bags

Three-season sleeping bags are a versatile choice for hiking, trekking, camping and travelling from spring through autumn. Compared with summer models, they provide greater thermal insulation while still maintaining a reasonable weight and compact packed size.

When choosing a sleeping bag, focus primarily on the Comfort temperature and the conditions in which you expect to use it most often. Our range includes both synthetic and down three-season sleeping bags for different types of outdoor activities.

How to choose a three-season sleeping bag

A three-season sleeping bag is one of the most versatile options. It is suitable for spring, summer and autumn camping, multi-day treks, camping and general outdoor use. Compared with lightweight summer sleeping bags, it provides a greater thermal reserve for colder nights, while usually remaining lighter and more compact than a sleeping bag designed for winter conditions.

When choosing, we recommend paying particular attention to the Comfort temperature. This is the best indication of the temperature at which the sleeping bag should provide a comfortable night's sleep without feeling cold. The Limit temperature represents the lower limit for less cold-sensitive users, while the Extreme temperature is an emergency survival rating only and should not be used as the main criterion for planning overnight stays.

It is also advisable to allow for some thermal reserve. Your perception of warmth is affected not only by the sleeping bag itself, but also by altitude, humidity, wind, fatigue, clothing and the sleeping mat you use.

Down or synthetic three-season sleeping bag?

Down sleeping bags offer an excellent balance of thermal insulation, low weight and compact packed size. They are especially suitable for hiking and trekking where keeping your gear light and compact is important.

Synthetic sleeping bags are generally less sensitive to moisture and are a practical, versatile choice for camping, hiking and travelling.

The sleeping mat is part of your sleep system

Even a well-chosen sleeping bag cannot prevent heat loss to the ground. A suitable sleeping mat is therefore equally important, with its insulation performance expressed by the R-value. For colder spring and autumn conditions, choose a sleeping mat with sufficient thermal insulation.

Connecting two sleeping bags

Some models are available with both right-hand and left-hand zips. Compatible sleeping bags with zips on opposite sides can be connected to create a shared sleeping space for two people. If you plan to use your sleeping bags this way, check the zip orientation and compatibility of the specific models.

What to consider when choosing

When comparing three-season sleeping bags, focus mainly on the Comfort temperature, type of insulation, weight, packed size and sleeping bag dimensions. Depending on how you plan to use it, the zip orientation and the possibility of connecting two sleeping bags may also be important.

A well-chosen three-season sleeping bag provides enough thermal reserve for most nights from spring through autumn while remaining sufficiently light and compact for hiking and travelling.
